October 2016 This is the first layer. Having so much fun using inks, oil pastels, acrylics! Taking another online course by Pauline Agnew called Pathway to Abstraction. Here's the biggest thing I'm learning....I'm learning that I need get rid of my inner critic, stop hesitating and just go for it! Go with my gut! and BREATHE!
April 25th, 2016 Here's the progression from start to finish. How did this happen, you ask? I took an e-course from Tracy Verdugo called Paint Mojo (well, I actually won a spot in her course - LUCKY ME). It was about mark making, playing with different mediums - inks, acrylics, pastels, markers; it was about letting go and taking chances. I loved the third painting, but I knew I had to push myself and let go. Why was I so attached? So, I took a breath and started painting over it. Now what?! After the course was over, I sat with number four for about 6 months! A week ago, I just went into my studio, and painted this figure, without thinking about it. I got out of my own head and just painted. I didn't care if it didn't work out, I just wanted to do SOMETHING! And, to my surprise, I was able to figure it out. See things I hadn't seen before. So much fun to do! Hope you enjoyed the process.

Started this fabulous on-line 4-week course with artist Pauline Agnew from Ireland! See.Feel.Paint - Expressive Faces and Figures. LOVING IT! With this particular image, we painted a face on paper - which is really one of the first 'painterly' pictures I've done - then cut it out, glued it on another piece of paper and collaged and painted around it. How Fun!!!! I can see how you can get really creative with this technique. The really fun thing about this course, is that you're taking it with wonderful artists from all over the world! :)
Taking Pauline Agnew's See Feel Paint - Expressive Landscapes e-course in August, opened my eyes to a new way of seing! Loved this course!!!
I recently attended an amazing abstract/mixed media workshop facilitated by a wonderful artist - Tracey-Mae Chambers. It was held at Whistling Gardens in Wilsonville, Ontario. What a fabulous venue! It certainly got my creative juices going! My first piece - I used print and paper, paint and netting. For me it was my 'quiet' piece. Then, with encouragement from Tracey-Mae, I was a little bolder and really experimented...once I got going, I 'got it' and understood how to implement found objects into my piece. Love this process! Can't wait to try it in my studio! Check out Tracey-Mae's work at traceymaeartwork.webs.com
In May, 2012 I participated in a weekend Brush Painting workshop "Enjoy the Brush" which was held at the Aikido Shugyo Dojo in Toronto. I learned the art of East Asian Calligraphy by teacher Kazuaki Tanahashi - a true master of the art. A wonderful and enlightening experience!
