Cups are carved when the clay is at the leather hard stage
Once the pieces are bisque-fired, raku glaze is brushed on
The pieces are then put into a raku kiln and fired at 1000 degrees C.
During a night fire, pieces are removed from the kiln and put into a container filled with combustible material (that's when the magic happens). The pieces are removed when cooled.
The residue from the firing is then washed off.
